Betty Jane Brown, age 87 years, of Portage and formerly of Packwaukee, died on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo. She was born on April 4, 1922 in Madison to Irving and Hattie (Gruhn) Steinbach. Betty was united in marriage to Hollie Brown on December 31, 1949 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Madison; he preceded her in death on September 6, 2004. She had worked at Kayser Ford as a Payroll Clerk for many years, a member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, the Rachel Bible Study and the Prairie Shawl Ministry. Survivors include 2 sons - James (Donna) Davis of Milton and Patrick (Kathy) Davis of Poynette; brother, Joseph (Barbara) Steinbach of Texas; sister, Carol (Robert) Krause of Waukesha and a brother in law, Michael "Mac" Bennett of Madison. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son - John and a twin sister - Beatrice Bennett and a sister - Phyllis Bennett. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 211 W. Pleasant St., Portage with The Reverend Richard Craig III officiating.
