Portage, WI   Arlene Ann Hein age 80 of Portage, WI died on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the Divine Savior Health Care in Portage, WI. Arlene was born on July 26, 1935 in Webster, SD to James and Clara (Wika) Helwig. Arlene was raised in Roslyn, SD and received her nursing degree in Aberdeen, SD Arlene married William Hein on September 16, 1961 in Milwaukee, WI and was married for 53 years. Arlene's nursing career lasted for 41 years; she was at Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee, Divine Savior in Portage and Jefferson Meadows Care Center in Baraboo, WI Arlene was involved in the community, keeping busy with the church choir (had a great voice), Portage Boat Club, and Portage Newcomers Club. She was especially proud of her family, and loved her grandchildren, she enjoyed going to Mass, picking raspberries and visiting relatives throughout the U.S. She made the best strawberry jam and grape juice ever! Arlene is survived by her husband Bill; children Kathy, Jim and Kristine (Patrick) Grossback; grandchildren Patrick, Ryan, Sarah; brothers and sisters Harriet, Ron, Tom, Cindy and many nieces and nephews. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jim. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Mary of The Immaculate Conception in Portage, WI Father Gary Krahenbuhl will be officiating. Visitation with rosary prayer service at 7:30 p.m. will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5 till 8 p.m. in the Picha Funeral Home in Portage.  Also one hour prior to the service at the church.
